Officer, (301)743-6692. The Department of Defense, Naval Explosive
Ordnance Disposal Technology Division, (NAVEODTECHDIV) is contemplating
the acquisition of efforts in the areas listed below during the
1996/1997 fiscal years. This announcement is NOT a formal solicitation
and is NOT a request for proposals. Availability of any formal
solicitation will be announced separately. This synopsis is for
information and planning purposes ONLY, and is not to be construed as
a commitment by the Government. Interested entities may submit written
responses to: Indian Head Division, Naval Surface Warfare Center,
Supply Department, Bldg. 1558, Attn: Renee DePalma, Code 1143E, 101
Strauss Ave, Indian Head, Md 20640-5035. Responses will be used to
develop a source of potential proposers for future solicitations.
Information submitted should be pertinent and specific in the technical
area under consideration, on each of the following qualifications:
Commercially available off-the-shelf dive suit, lightweight, preferably
with low magnetic signature, neutrally buoyant or near-neutrally
buoyant when submerged to be used during long duration dives (180-240
minutes) in water temperatures in the following ranges: Range 1) 29
degrees F to 35 degrees F; Range 2) 35 degrees F to 45 degrees F; Range
3) 40 degrees F to 45 degrees F. Note: dive suit is not required to
meet all temp ranges. Diver will be wearing an underwater breathing
apparatus and other associated EOD tools and equipment required to
perform a very shallow water (VSW) mine countermeasure (MCM) mission.
The anticipated dive profile will be from 40 feet to 10 feet. The dive
suit will be utilized in the very shallow water (littoral) zone
necessitating a lightweight, rugged and easy to swim design. Both
wetsuit and drysuit designs will be considered. There is no specific
format or outline that your response must follow. Include other
descriptive literature and any other specific and pertinent information
that would enhance our consideration and evaluation of the information
submitted. Firms responding should indicate whether they are a small
business (s), Small Disadvantaged Business (SDB), 8(a), or large
business (L). Please include two (2) copies of each response. Each
response must reference the sources sought title and must be limited in
length to ten (10) typed pages. Telephone responses will not be
honored. So that your response can be included in our source lists for
all appropriate Fiscal year (FY) 1996 or FY 1997 competitions, your
response must be received no later than close of business 29 February
1996. Responses will be accepted after that date, but cannot be assured
