668-3455. Provide all labor, material and equipment necessary to
provide drydock repairs and lead paint removal including but not
limited to the following items: 1) Preserve Freeboard 2) Preserve
Superstructure 3) Preserve Weather Decks 4) Preserve Main Mast, Fore
Mast, and Stub Mast 6) Remove, Inspect and Reinstall Propeller 7) Minor
Repair and Recondition Propeller. The vessels home piers are as
follows: CGC BISCAYNE BAY, St. Ignace, MI; CGC BRISTOL BAY, Detroit,
MI; CGC KATMAI BAY, Sault Ste. Marie; CGC MOBILE BAY, Sturgeon Bay, WI;
CGC NEAH BAY, Cleveland, OH. The vessels are geographically restricted
to the Great Lakes. Contractors will have the opportunity to bid on
performing work on one vessel at a time, or 3 at a time with the
remaining two vessels to be completed separately at later dates. Vessel
availability schedules are as follows: 1) 5/20/96, 06/17/96, 07/08/96,
09/02/96, and 08/30/97 2) 07/08/96, 09/02/97, and 08/30/97.
Performance Period is scheduled for twenty eight (28) and thirty five
(35) days. There will be a non-refundable charge of $100 in the form of
certified check or money order made payable to the U.S. Coast Guard for
requested drawings and publications. Orders must be received within ten
(10) days prior bid opening. The proposed contract listed here is part
of the Small Business Competitiveness Demonstration Program. For
Minority, Women-Owned and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises: The
Department of Transportation (DOT) Office of Small and Disadvantaged
Business Utilization has programs to assist minority women-owned and
disadvantaged business enterprises to acquire short-term working
capital and bonding assistance for transportation-related contracts.
Loans are available under the DOT Short Term Lending Program (STLP) at
prime interest rates up to $500,000 per contract to provide accounts
receivable financing. The DOT Bonding Assistance Program enables firms
to apply for bid, performance and payment bonds up to $500,000 per
contract. DOT provides an 80 percent guaranty on the bond amount to a
