ext 308. The work covered in these specifications consists of
furnishing all plant, labor, equipment, and materials for the
commencement of construction work at McChord Air Force Base, WA. The
following items are a brief summary of the project and are provided
solely for the purpose or revealing the general nature of the work
involved. The Contractor is responsible for accomplishing all items of
work in accordance with the applicable drawings, specifications, and
provisions of the contract. Any sundry labor, materials, equipment,
and/or appurtenances not specifically detailed or specified, but
required to complete the project, shall be provided as an integral part
of the scope of work hereinafter specified. Work includes, but is not
limited to, the following: 1) Construction of a open sided canopy
structure 84'' wide by 124'' long over an existing concrete slab. The
structure's primary structural system is a moment resisting frame
supported on concrete filled drilled shaft foundations. This
construction includes three Additive Bid Items which extend the
coverage of the canopy; 2) Construction of an 850sf (approx) office
addition to an existing building with a reception area and three
individual offices. The structure's primary support system is a
pre-engineered moment resisting frame, supported on spread footings to
include sleeving an existing force main sewer. Exterior roof and walls
coverings are factory-finished metal panels. The project includes
insulation, extension of the hot water heating system, electrical,
drywall suspended acoustic ceilings, and carpeting (both new and
existing office). Built-in cabinets are included in the customer
service area. Construction of a doorway between the addition and the
existing building involves removal of a window, concrete wall cutting
and metal work; 3) Preparation of the site includes demolition of
existing asphaltic pavement and lawn, encasement of the electrical
service and, the existing force main sewer under the footprint of the
building addition, asphaltic paving, and concrete curbs and exterior
lighting. The project consists of a Base Bid affecting the construction
of the addition and Three (3) Additive Bid Items affecting the
construction of the exterior storage yard canopy. The magnitude of
construction is between $250,000 and $500,000. The period of
performance is 200 calender days from receipt of Notice to Proceed.
Solicitation is expected to issue on or about 24 Jan 96, with a bid
opening date projected to be 23 Feb 96. The proposed project is to be
issued as unrestricted. There is a $30.00 non-refundable charge for
each bid set. Payment in the form of a company check, certified
cashier's check, or U.S. Postal Money Order made payable to the
``Department of the Air Force'' must accompany each request. Personal
checks and cash will not be accepted. All requests for bid sets must be
