The Secretary of Energy has announced on October 10, 1995, a preferred
alternative with the Accelerator Production of Tritium (APT) as one
part of a dual path strategy. This project involves accelerator
engineering development, design, construction, and commissioning of a
high energy linear proton accelerator system to produce tritium by
2011. A multi-laboratory team (Los Alamos, Brookhaven, Lawrence
Livermore, and Sandia) has completed the preconceptual design. This
design has been documented in a series of Topical Reports that are
available in the SEB Libraries. The SEB Libraries are located at the
Energy Training Center, 1401 Maxwell, Kirtland Air Force Base West,
Albuquerque, New Mexico, and at the DOE Headquarters Forrestal Building
