Lilley, Telephone (415)604-1066, e-mail address to Valoree_Lilley@qmgate.arc.nasa.gov Request for Proposal (RFP2-36263) published in the Commerce Business Daily Issue No. PSA 1298, Wednesday, March 8, 1995 is modified to include the performance of maintenance and repair of machine shop equipment. The overall requirement will require the Contractor to provide qualified personnel to operate Government- owned equipment in the Machine Shop located at NASA-Ames Research Center, Moffett Field, CA during the day-shift and swing-shift hours of operation. The contractor shall perform the manufacture, repair and/or modification of research and facility hardware through the application of conventional machining methods and techniques using various types and sizes of lathes, milling machines, grinders, electric discharge machines, boring mills, drill presses, jib bores, shaper, planers, and numerically controlled machinery. The hardware involved may include, but not be limited to, experi mental research equipment, models, model supports, facility hard ware and systems. Tasks will range from working on unique, tech nically sophisticated equipment to simple, routine work. Contractor shall be familiar with the properties and the machining character istics of at least the following materials: carbon steels, stainless steels, aluminum, alloy steels, brass, copper, bronze, nickel, monel, invar, Molybdenum, titanium, plastic, and ceramics. The contractor will be required to perform all maintenance and repair of machine shop equipment including, but not limited to, numerical control machines, lathes, milling machines, grinders, brakes, shears, punches, drill presses, planers, shapers, band saws, electrical discharge machines and other equipment.
