Y -- PREQUALIFICATION OF GENERAL CONTRACTORS FOR A PERIOD OF ONE YEAR FOR RENOVATION OF EXISTING BUILDINGS FOR THE U S POSTAL SERVICE SOL 072976-96-A-0079 DUE 013096. Contract Point: Hugh Roche, Project Manager (303) 220-6543. The Denver Facilities Service Office, U S Postal Service, is soliciting written expression of interest from contractors desiring to be placed on a prequalified contractor's list for the major renovation of existing building in accordance with U S Postal Service Standard Plans in the State of Oregon. Projects currently identified; the approximate sizes and costs are as follows: Grants Pass, Oregon - Detached Carrier Unit, 32,000 SF, $1.8 Million; Portland, Oregon - Cherry Blossom Detached Carrier Unit, 28,000 SF, $1.6 Million and Portland, Oregon - Midway Retail Postal Unit, 8,000 SF, $1.0 Million. The U S Postal Service reserves the right to delete or add projects of similar scope and cost range to the identified list. Each of the Detached Carrier Units will include workrooms, carrier parking, loading docks support offices, restrooms, locker rooms, etc. The Retail unit will include a Postal Retail Store and box lobby. The contract duration for the renovation will not exceed four months from the date of issuance of the notice to proceed. The contractor must meet or exceed the following minimum criteria for prequalification: (a) construction experience (5 years minimum, three projects of comparable size, scope of work and cost); (b) have valid contractor's license for the State of Oregon; (c) proof of financial stability and bonding capacity; (d) past performance (demonstrate projects were on time and on budget); (e) current work load and firm's capacity in relation to company resources; (f) references and lists of previous clients, including current contact names and telephone numbers; (g) project management capabilities; (h) company organization; (i) previous experience in construction of Postal Service facilities is desirable; (j) geographical location of firm to location of projects; (k) MBE participation and commitment (l) safety awareness program; (m) quality control program; (n) substance abuse policy. Interested firms must obtain a ``Prequalification Package'' which will be available at no charge o/a January 2, 1996. This package may be obtained upon written request to: U S Postal Service, Facilities Service Office, Attn: Marcia Stencel, 8055 E. Tufts Avenue, Suite 400, Denver, Colorado 80237-2881, or by FAXed request to (303) 220-6552. Submittals must be on approved USPS Contractor Prequalification Forms contained in the prequalification package. Complete packages must be submitted no later than close of business January 30, 1996. Prequalification statements will be evaluated by a committee of postal professionals. All firms will be notified of the prequalification status within thirty days of receipt of their prequalification statements. Firms selected as being the best qualified will be placed on a prequalification list for a period of one year. The prequalification statements will not be returned.
