Weapons, Air Base, and Range (VX), Product Support Office (PSO),
Contracting Directorate (VXK), Aeronautical System Center (ASC), Air
Force Materiel Command (AFMC), Eglin AFB FL plans an acquisition of an
additional 587 DSU-33A/B proximity sensor dummy/training (D-2) units
to fully satisfy the user/operator quantities and schedule
requirements. A Motorola, Inc. developed Level III Technical Data
Package (TDP) is available, however, not yet approved by the
Government. Planned approval date is Feb 96. At present, the Air Force
plans to award the DSU-33A/B (D-2) to Motorola, Inc. Scottsdale AZ via
a sole source addition to an existing/on-going contract, IAW FAR
6.302-1, Only One Responsible Source. See Numbered Note 22. Motorola,
as the original source, has produced D-2s in the past, and is currently
under contract to deliver 400 units. The Motorola factory and factory
team is now available for this task. The D-2 training units must be in
place and available for training prior to or no later than arrival of
live/operational sensors, i.e., Jul - Dec 96. This synopsis is for
planning purposes only, does not constitute an IFB or RFP, and is not
to be construed as a commitment by the Government. Interested firms
with the ability to perform the production of the DSU-33A/B (D-2s) and
meet the delivery schedule may respond with details of their
qualifications and experience based upon the following: knowledge of
the tasks, facilities to produce and deliver the D-2s in a timely
schedule. Only those firms responding, who in judgment of the
contracting officer are capable of meeting these requirements will be
solicited. Responses to this synopsis should be received within 15 days
of the publication date and must state whether the respondent is/is not
a small business concern as defined in FAR 52.219-1. The Air Force
reserves the right to consider a small business set-aside based on the
responses submitted. Potential RFP recipients will be required to be
export controlled certified, IAW DoD 5230.25, prior to receiving an
RFP. Certification may be obtaied through the Defense Logistics
