Nelson (301) 619-2034 (Site Code DAMD17) A - The United States Army intends to award a contract for an intensive study that will review the existing intramural and extramural research that is directly related to the Breast Cancer Research Program and is currently being funded by the Department of Defense. Based on this review, recommendations will be developed for funding new research initiatives in the Breast Cancer Research Program that are designed to add to, but not overlap with, existing areas of research. The study will provide guidance in this endeavor by developing recommendations for focused goals that delineate important areas where current funding and programs are not yet in place. Award to National Academy of Sciences on a sole source basis is planned. NAS is uniquely qualified to render independent advice of unparalleled objectivity.
