The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division, has a requirement to design, fabricate, and test 20 hermetically sealed optics assemblies known as Integrated Window and Optics Assemblies (IWOA) for the MK 404 MOD 2 infrared proximity fuze. This effort includes: a) detail design of a predefined concept; b) fabrication of 20 IWOA units; c) testing of the 20 IWOA units; d) comparative cost analysis between an existing optics assembly of a Government drawing and the IWOA; and e) a report on the above tasks. The duration of the contract shall be for six months after the effective date of the contract. Preliminary engineering sketches of the IWOA units shall be provided to the Government three months after award of contract. A draft copy of a test report shall be submitted for comment prior to submission of the final report at the end of the contract. A draft copy of a cost analysis report of the IWOA units as compared to the baseline optics assembly shall be submitted for comment prior to submission of the final report at the end of the contract. Because of the classified nature of this task, the contractor must have a security clearance at least to the confidential level. The contractor must maintain adequate security control. The use of Government Furnished Property will be required. The proposed contract shall be negotiated with Opto Electronics, 1309 Dynamic St., P.O. Box 750039, Petaluma, CA 94975-0039 as Opto Electronics is the only known source qualified to provide the required detector assembly into the Government approved optics assembly.
