U -- REQUEST FOR INFORMATION ON INTERACTIVE VIDEO TELETRAINING POC Dr. Cissy Lennon, 405-954-5877. The purpose of this RFI is to gather accurate ranges of Course Conversion Cost data and to assess the availability of qualified organizations capable of converting classroom based courseware to a Distance Learning format. The FAA is currently planning a (1-Way Video/2-Way Audio) Interactive Video Teletraining network. The network configuration will consist of an transmit capability at the FAA Academy in Oklahoma City and receive sites at FAA locations nationwide. The FAA Academy has a Satellite Uplink and an Automated Instructor Presentation System (i.e. Studio). The instructor studio has the following media capabilities: Instructor Camera and Monitor, Video Tape Players (VHS, Hi8, Betacam SP), 35mm Slide-to-Video Converter, Satellite & Cable Source, One-Touch Graphics, Computer Graphics (Macintosh, IBM, and VideoShow), and a writing pad for hand written notes over a blue background or chromekeyed over other sources. The FAA receive sites will consist of a Downlink dish, video monitor, VCR, and the One-Touch Viewer Response System. Some of the key features of the One Touch Inc. Viewer Response System are as follows: Any student on the network can ask the instructor a verbal question, the instructor can initiate a call to any student on the network, the instructor can ask the class a multiple choice or yes/no questions and get a graph of the resultant answers, the instructor can create tests and quizzes which can be transmitted over the video network. The FAA is seeking cost estimates for converting predominantly stand-up lecture course materials for delivery via satellite television with voice/data interaction using the One Touch.
