FRANCE: DOMESTIC APPLIANCES STANDARDS The following notification is being circulated in accordance with Article 2.9. G/TBT/Notif. 95.321. 1. Member to Agreement notifying: France. ICS numbers may be provided in addition, where applicable): Domestic appliances: vacuum cleaners, dishwashers, clothes washing machines, driers, heaters, refrigerators, freezers, electric cookers. 5. Title and number of pages of the notified document: Order establishing the Mandatory Application of Standards (4 pages). 6. Description of content: This Order provides for a further amendment to the Order of 23 July 1987, as amended, establishing the mandatory application of standards for advertising or information concerning the characteristics of domestic appliances. 7. Objective and rationale: The Order has two purposes: To replace the previous French Standards given in the Annex by the new standards embodying the European Standards; to add the following appliances in Table 1 (noise measurement-domestic appliances) of the Annex: clothes washing machines and driers, heaters, refrigerators and freezers. The objective is to ensure fair trade and proper consumer information by setting common rules for advertising or information concerning the noise of the appliances concerned. 8.
