Request for information - Subject: Manufacturing Science and Technology (MS&T) for Uncooled Thermal Imaging Systems. The US Army CECOM RDEC, Night Vision and Electronic Sensors Directorate, Science & Technology Division is soliciting inputs from the DoD Industrial base regarding the identification and prioritization of the critical manufacturing technologies which require investment in order to achieve the low cost production of Department of Defense Uncooled Thermal Imaging Systems. Inputs received will be considered during the development of an Army Uncooled IR Technologies Manufacturing Science and Technology (MS&T) Program scheduled for award in FY 97. Information sought includes, a detailed description of the problem area, proposed solutions, and expected benefits (cost, performance, yields, production capacity, quality, etc.) to the Army and DoD. Areas that may be addressed include, but are not limited to, the following: 8-14 Micrometer Optical Systems, Chopper Assemblies, FPA/Thermoelectric Stabilizer Assemblies, Display Assembly, Electronic Components and Packaging unique to Uncooled Thermal Imaging systems, System Packaging, Testing, and Assembly.
