PRC, Inc. in execution of its prime Contract No. 50-SAPT-4-00319 with the Department of Commerce, United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) hereby issues a sources sought to identify firms interested in providing replacement and additional storage for the existing image storage subsystems and a compatible Document Management System (DMS) for the Automated Patent System and other USPTO applications over the 1998-2002 time frame. In order to ensure that such subsystems would accommodate the image storage needs of the USPTO into the 21st century, PRC is seeking sources that could provide an aggregate of 17 to 26 Tera-Bytes (TB) of image storage from FY98 through FY98 through FY02. For applications interface compatibility, the storage controller processors must adhere to the POSIX standard (FIPS PUB 151-1, 1990). PRC is also seeking a Document Management System, fully compatible with the Storage Subsystems, that will provide the means to migrate toward a standard open systems architecture. The DMS is required to be Commercial-Off-the-Shelf (COTS) software optimized for high throughput operation in a TCP/IP client/server architecture. Services related to the deployment and maintenance support of the storage subsystems and document management system is also desired. Specific requirements are available for review by all interested vendors. Copies of the draft Requirement Specifications (Section C only) can be obtained by written request and faxed to the attention of Terri Duvall at (703) 883-8339. Upon review of the Requirement Specifications, vendors are requested to submit comments and product material supporting their capability to provide the above mentioned document management system, storage subsystems, and support services, including component level pricing data. Information of a general nature concerning future products is also desired to assist PRC in planning. Three copies are required of all submitted material. Initial responses are requested within 30 days from publication of this announcement. This is a pre-solicitation notice for planning purposes only and does not constitute an IFB or RFP, nor does it promise that any procurement activity will follow.
