J -- PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE SERVICE CONTRACT POC Brenda K. Lee (301) 975-6394/C.O Ruth A. Maris (301) 975-6344 The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), intends to negotiate on a sole source basis for a Preventative Maintenance Service Contract from JEOL USA, Inc., 11 Dearborn Road., Peabody, MA 01961, to be performed on-site on equipment located at Gaithersburg, MD. Items to be maintained shall include a JEM-3010 Electron Microscope 130008-13, ASID High Resolution Scanning Unit, BEI Back Scattered Unit, FLC Free Lens Control, R175 Water Chiller and SEG Side Entry Goniometer. Services required shall include routine service visits, emergency service, repair/replace parts to maintain original specifications, labor, travel, and parts covered. The period of performance is for a base year and four option years, commencing January 1, 1996 and ending December 31, 1997. The Government intends to solicit one source under authority of FAR 6.301.1. Joel Inc. is the sole manufacturer of this instrument, the ancillary devices and replacements parts and also employs a staff of service engineers who are qualified to service this unique instrument, maintaining it at the original specifications. Interested offerors may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirements by submitting a capability statement. The capability statement must provide adequate information of supplying this type of service, and qualifications to provide the services. All of the above must be received for the Government to consider whether to open this request for competition. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all capability statements received within 45 days after date of preparation of this synopsis, will be considered by the Government. See Numbered Note 22 (0324)
