(NIST) requires one (1) shredder capable of reducing soft radioactive
toxic waste to a particle size of 3 mm and below in the largest
dimension, in a cryogenic environment. The waste contains cloth, paper,
plastic, and rubber, as well as small metal parts such as zippers,
snaps, and rivets. To retain any toxic solvents present, the shredder
will be operated at a temperature of 77 K (-320 degrees F) for long
periods. The materials of the shredder and bearings must be capable of
operating satisfactorily at 77K. The shredder must be easy to maintain
and clean in a glove box environment. A request for written quotations
pursuant to the simplified acquisition procedures will be available
ASAP after December 4, 1995. The anticipated award is approximately
February 1, 1996. This requirement is 100% set aside for small
