Strauss Ave, Indian Head MD 20640-5035 13 -- SUPERCRITICAL CARBON DIOXIDE EXTRACTION SYSTEM SOL N00174 POC
Brenda Krex, Contract Specialist, 301-743-6570, Penny S. Kennedy,
Contracting Officer. The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Indian Head
Division (NSWC, IHD) is currently seeking sources and approximate costs
for a 25 liter supercritical carbon dioxide extraction system to be
used for the development of supercritical carbon dioxide processing of
energetic materials. The majority of this work will focus on
recrystallization of explosives and coating energetic materials in
suercritical carbon dioxide. The maximum working pressure vessels in
the system shall be 350bar between -20C and 00C, All ressure vessels in
the system must be built to the ASME pressure vessel code. All wetted
surfaces of the system must be stainless steel. The extraction vessel
must have: an L to D ratio of approximately 3, an automated-full
diameter quick opening closure, an agitator, and a basket for
collection and removal of micron powders. The vessel at a maximum flow
rate of 20 Kg/hr at 350 bar. The system must be capable of recovering
the solvent and recycling purified carbon dioxide. The system must be
remotely operated (with manual overrides) via a graphical user
interface and include a data acquisition system. The control panel must
have the capability of being located at least 250 feet from the
equipment. Temperaturess and pressures must be monitored and controlled
in each process vessel. The rate of each process stream flowing into
the extractor must be monitored and controlled. All electrical systmes
must comply with the National Electric Code requirements for
operations in Class Division grou C and class 2 Division groups E, F,
and G hazardous locations. A skid mounted disign is preferable. In
addition to the hardware a compllete documentation package including
design calculations, P and I diagrams, control logic and equipment
specification would be required. Interested sources who can meet the
requirments and desire to be considered, need to respond within 30
calendar days, by sending two coppies of descriptive literature
containing concept, estimated costs and lead times. Corresponce should
be directed to the Supply Department, Indian Head Division, Naval
Surface Warfare Center Indian Head MD 20640-5035. This isnot a Request
for Proposal. There is no commitment on the part of the U.S. Navy to
award a contract as a result of this request for information. (0324) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0231 19951121\13-0007.SOL)
