International Broadcasting Bureau (IBB) of the U.S. Information Agency
(USIA) seeks private sector gifts to underwrite the commercial
development, historic preservation and recataloging of approximately
170,000 titles of the archives of the Voice of America radio and
Worldnet television. Material includes more than 50 years of official
speeches, documentaries, news reels, features, interviews, music,
outtakes and raw footage of American and foreign leaders as well as
public figures in arts, education, culture and entertainment in fully
produced radio and television programs as well as cinema. This archival
material is professionally produced, predominately in English, in good
condition and of wide historic interest. As part of the underwriting
arrangement, the IBB can facilitate access to and digital reproduction
of these previously restricted collections which date from 1942 as
part of the underwriting arrangement. Material is in the public domian
although rights issues may exist within individual titles. Existing
Material prepared for air more than twelve years ago can be
disseminated within the United States. Expressions of interest should
