COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF NOVEMBER 13,1995 PSA#1471

Social Security Administration, Office of Acquisition and Grants, 1710 Gwynn Oak Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21207-0696

70 -- ADP SOFTWARE POC Joanne Tarr Tel: 410-965-9474 The Social Security Administration is attempting to identify vendors that can provide an off-the shelf software product and subsequent maintenance for such software, which is the functional equivalent of SoftTouch Systems, Incorporated's software product: CICS-RDO/EC Release 2.0. Any such equivalent shall have the following functions and features: 1) MESSAGE AND AUDIT RETRIEVAL SYSTEMS -- Audit Trail for all CICS resources definition activity and other CICS systems messages is captured and managed by CICS- RDO/EC. User can display messages through Audit display functions or directly on a resource display through a window displaying the resource's history. Messages and resources can be located by several methods including date/time of last update, users, and resource, group, and/or list name (with generic and wildcard support); 2) SINGLE POINT OF CONTROL CONNECTIVITY BETWEEN CICS REGIONS IN NON-MRO/ISC ENVIRONMENTS (prior releases supported only MRO/ISC environments) -- Users can connect from one CICS region to another without first logging off the current CICS. Connections can be made to CICS regions that are made available to CICS-RDO/EC. Connections can start from any CICS. Multiple users can simultaneously use this function; 3) REMOTE INSTALLS -- Installing Resources (and performing other CEDA commands) Across CICS Regions. Resource installs can be made across CICS regions without the need to first logoff the current CICS region. User can target any CICS region or regions in which a command or series of commands are to automatically perform through the imitation of a single CICS-RDO/EC function. CICS- RDO/EC performs all work in all regions, updates audit trails, and reports results to users. The perfect way to reduce the workload and maintain a multiple region environment using one or more CSDs; 4) GLOBAL CHANGES FOR RESOURCES DEFINITIONS -- Mass changes can be made to design resource definitions. Changes (ALTER) can be performed on resource definitions in a global fashion. Resource global changes can be selected by resource and/or group name or any combinations of generic and wildcard naming convention and masking. Full audit trails and directory listings of all resources modified are producd; 5) DISPLAY AND QUERY ON THE DATE AND TIME STAMP OF RESOURCE DEFINITIONS -- The last date/time a resource was updated is displayed on resource directory screens. Direct query facilities are also available to find any or all resources updated within date/time period; 6) IMPROVED PERFORMANCE IN DIRECTORY BUILD -- Initial directory build can be performed asynchronously at CICS startup to improve performance. Additional controls are now provided for systems administrator's use in controlling directory refresh options; 7) DISPLAY GROUP OCCURRENCES IN MULTIPLE LISTS -- When a group appears in multiple lists it will be indicated on the group directory display. The user can quickly see all the lists in which a group appears by requesting the full display of lists for the group. 8) EXPAND GROUPS WITHIN A LIST EXPANSION -- While in a display of an expansion of a list a group expansion can be displayed. When the user exits the group expansion display they are repositioned to the list expansion. Requests for multiple expansions can be made so the process continues to the next group expansion, rather than the list expansion display, until the last requested group is displayed. The CICS-RDO/EC software or its equivalent will be installed on an IBM 9021/900 mainframe system located at the National Computer Center, Baltimore, Maryland. Firms having the capability to provide the required software and maintenance service are invited to submit complete details. Interested parties must respond to this notice in writing within 15 calendar days from the date of this publication. The responses must clearly state the ability to provide and maintain the required software product. PLEASE REFER TO CICS95.JT when responding to this announcement. This is a request for product information only, not a Request for Proposal(RFP). No contract award will be made on the basis of responses received; however, this information will be used in SSA's assessment of capable sources. The Government does not intend to pay for information received. Requests for copies of a solicitation will not be honored or acknowledged. (0312)
