Zeckser, (907)586-7901, Additional Contact, Eric Meyer, (907)586-8880 Project is comprised of 26.7 miles of road construction and 6.2 miles of road construction including construction staking, clearing and grubbing, excavation, borrow excavation, haul, endhaul, furnishing and installing culverts and pipe arches, three 60 foot bridges, one 90 foot bridge, rip rap, seeding and fertilizing. The project is located on Kupreanof Island in Southeast Alaska. All of the road reconstruction and 21.8 miles of new road construction are attached to the existing Forest Road system at Portage Bay on Kupreanof Island. There is no community or services attached to the existing Forest Road System near the village of Kake. Petersburg is the nearest full service community to the project area, which is approximately 17 air miles from Portage Bay and 42 miles from Kake. Contract time is approximately five years from the of contract award. Estimated price range is between $5,000,000 and $10,000,000. This project is a 100 percent Labor Surplus Area set-aside.
