D -- TELECOMMUNICATION SERVICES POC Shirley Shoemaker (301) 975-6334 The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to purchase on a sole source, all or none basis from Bell Atlantic Federal Systems, 1710 H Street, NW, Suite 400, Washington, DC 20006; (1) Switched Multimegabit Data Service (SMDS) between NIST and BBN PLAnet Operations Center at the University of Maryland, College Park, to include: (a) one subscriber network access line (SNAL) from the NIST premises to the Bell Atlantic central office equipped with SMDS switch, (b) one SMDS address assigned to NIST's SNAL, (c) formation of the initial address screen, and (d) unlimited usage at 10 Mega bits/second, and (2) FDDI network service between NIST and the Center for Advanced Research in Biotechnology (CARB), Rockville, MD, to include (a) exclusive use, and (b) capability of NIST to use up to six ports at each extended point of presence. The period of performance is from December 1, 1995 through September 30, 1996 with options to renew for two additional one-year periods. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. NIST intends to solicit one source under authority of FAR 6.302-1, only one responsible source and no other supplies will satisfy agency requirements. Only written proposals received within 45 days after date of publication of this synopsis shall be considered. Responses received as a result of this notice will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Responses shall contain sufficient documentation to establish a bonafide capability to fulfill all of the requirements. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government.
