Lockheed Martin Engineering & Science Services, P.O. Box 168, Moffett Field, CA 94035-0168

66 -- A PASSIVE DOSIMETER SYSTEM TO DETECT AND MEASURE SPACE RADIATION ON BOARD THE INTERNATIONAL SPACE STATION SOL ER-M1-30-413. Contact Ed Rohnk (415) 604-1653. QUALIFIED SOURCES SOUGHT FOR LOCKHEED MARTIN'S REQUIREMENT FOR THE PROCUREMENT OF AN OFF-THE-SHELF PASSIVE DOSIMETER. Lockheed Martin Engineering and Science Services (LMESS) is a Contractor to NASA Ames Research Center under Prime Contract No. NAS2-14263. The point of contact is Ed Rohnk at (415) 604-1653, P.O. Box 168, Moffett Field, CA 94035-0168. This procurement is open to any qualified source who has successfully designed and manufactured a passive dosimeter device that has flown in space. The Passive Dosimeter consists of a Thin Layer Dosimetry (TLD) type badge reader/annealer to determine badge exposure to space radiation and passive badges to accumulate dosages of radiation aboard the International Space Station. The Passive Dosimeter system will measure and record cumulative dosage of ionizing radiation including beta particles (30 millirads to 90 rads, 700 KeV to 10 MeV), X-rays and gamma rays (10 millirads to 90 rads, 20 KeV to 10 MeV), neutrons (10 millirems to 90 rems, 0.5 eV to 10 MeV), fast protons and heavy charged particles (100 millirads to 90 rads, greater than 3 MeV). Heavy charged particle tracks will be read on the ground. Beta particles, x-rays, gamma rays, fast protons, and neutrons will be read on board the International Space Station. LMESS will make available to interested contractors an RFP with a Passive Dosimeter Specification. Written request for receiving an RFP with Specification must be submitted by November 15, 1995 to the address stated above or faxed to (415) 604-1658 Attn: Ed Rohnk. Your requests must also describe your existing product, when it was flown in space, and how successfully it functioned. Qualified offerors responding to this notice can expect to receive a copy of the RFP by November 17, 1995. LMESS reserves the right not to compete this proposed subcontract based on the responses to the proposed RFP. Information received as result of the solicitation will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. LMESS will consider overseas sources if a domestic source cannot meet the requirements of this solicitation. (298)
