Procurement Operations Division, 400 7th Street, S.W., Room 9134,
Washington, D.C. 20590 A -- SECOND CIVIL FREQUENCY ON GPS BLOCK IIF SATELLITES--SOURCES
SOUGHT SOL DTOS59-96-R-00006 DUE 121595 POC Contracting Officer, Daniel
Telep, Jr., 202/366-6699 The U.S. Dept. of Transportation (DOT), Office
of the Secretary, Radio and Navigation Policy Office, is seeking
information that could aid in determining the benefits of adding a
second civil frequency to the NAVSTAR GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM (GPS)
Block IIF satellite constellation system. The procurement (i.e,, RFP,
FO4701-95-R-0001) of the GPS satellite is currently being handled by
the U.S. Air Force/SMSC/LAAFB/GPSJPO, Captain C. Junker at (310)
363-3586 and Captain J. Stiglich at (310) 363-3214. The Government's
goal of adding a second frequency on the GPS Block IIF satellite is to
provide increased accuracy for civil users. Furthermore, the
additional frequency would be used to provide a more accurate estimate
of atmospheric effects on the position estimate, thereby allowing for
more accurate solutions. The purpose of this sources sought is to
request suppliers of GPS related equipment, (e.g., receivers, monitors)
suppliers of related services, users of the system, and any other
interested parties to submit any written information they may deem
helpful in the conduct of this analysis. The request for information
from suppliers, and users of the GPS is identified but not limited to:
1) descriptions of potential applications for which a second civil
frequency on the GPS Block IIF satellite would be required or
advantageous, and 2) identification of estimated annual revenue and
cost changes anticipated as a result of the presence of a second civil
frequency on the GPS Block IIF satellite. Send written or electronic
format information on this sources sought to: Mr. Kenneth Lamm, U.S.
