D -- REUTER NEWS WIRE SERVICE, AMERICAN FORCES INFORMATION SERVICE/ CURRENT NEWS ANALYSIS RESEARCH BRANCH POC Contact Tiffney Griner, Contract Specialist or Missy Lohmann, Contracting Officer (703) 693-5010 Defense Supply Service-Washington, in support of the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense (Public Affairs) American Forces Information Service/Current News Analysis Research Branch (CNARS), intends to negotiate a sole source contract with Reuters America, Inc. for news wire service. This service is critical to the CNARS mission of publishing the Early Bird. CNARS must have the ability to access news stories on a real-time basis in order to provide Early Bird readers with late-breaking defense or foreign policy news as well as providing a comprehensive schedule of upcoming weekly events. Along with LAN Access Workstation Fee, Reuter's America services will include: Broadcast Communications, which is the delivery cost for FM deliver of news and receiving equipment rental; Reuter News Report, which is a 24 hour news report covering national and international news delivered in real time 7 days a week; and Reuter Washington Report, which includes schedules, daybooks, and diaries of all Washington events for the use by other directorates within the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense (Public Affairs) as well as the CNARS. The initial performance period of the contract will be the date of the award through September 30, 1996 with four option years. This is not a request for proposals.
