Y -- PREQUALIFICATION STATEMENTS - RENOVATION OF THE SUGAR HOUSE, CHICAGO, ILLINOIS SOL 162640-96-A-0205 DUE 110895 POC Contact Point. Edwin Broderick, 312/669-5949 or Teri Wilcox-DuBois, 312/669-5974 The U.S. Postal Service is soliciting to prequalify firms for the Sugar House Renovation in Chicago, Illinois. The renovation is for approximately 200,000 sq. ft. of the Sugar House, a 230,000 sq. ft. USPS owned and occupied facility located at 358 W. Harrison St., in Chicago, Illinois. The anticipated construction cost is estimated between $7,000,000 and $10,000,000. The anticipated construction duration is between 270 and 300 calendar days. The renovation is contingent upon funding approval by the USPS Board of Governors. If approved, construction award is anticipated to occur in late January, 1996. The scope of work anticipated includes, but is not limited to, the construction of an access road, including an engineered filled ramp, located at the East end of Polk Street, demolition, underground utilities, asphalt paving, HVAC systems (boilers, chillers, ductwork, piping, etc.), electrical systems (power, lighting, communication systems, CCTV and other security systems, fire alarm systems, etc.), renovation of existing elevators, wall partitions, handicap accessibility, patch and paint, and other miscellaneous items. Renovation design documents will be prepared by Teng & Associates, Inc. Prequalification statements will be evaluated by the Contracting Officer's staff. Primary factors that will be considered are: Experience in similar size and type of project, Financial stability, References and Capacity. Other factors to be considered will include: Project management capabilities, Company organization, MBE participation and commitment. Applications will be evaluated by a USPS committee, and all firms will be advised within sixty (60) days of receipt of their application as to prequalification status. Firms selected as being the most qualified will be placed on the prequalification list. Interested firms that meet the minimum criteria stated herein may obtain a Contractor Prequalification Statement package by request to Teri Wilcox-DuBois, Facilities Contract Specialist, Facilities Service Office, 222 S. Riverside Plaza, Suite 1200, Chicago, Illiois 60606-6150. Contractor Prequalification Statement packages will be available on or about October 11, 1995. Packages will be furnished free of any fees or charges. Information submitted by contractors will be held in strict confidence. All requests for packages must be in writing. Facsimile requests (Fax 312/669-5959, Attn. Teri Wilcox-DuBois) are acceptable. Statements must be submitted no later than 4:00 PM on November 8, 1995.
