R -- BROKER FOR NON-EMERGENCY TRANSPORTATION (NET) SERVICES The State of Georgia issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) on September 20, 1995 to obtain a qualified contractor in each of five (5) non-emergency transportation (NET) regions. Each contractor will be the broker for all NET services to the Medicaid recipients in the respective NET region. The broker will administer Georgia Medicaid NET services by taking reservations for NET trips, assessing the need for trips, and scheduling the appropriate services through transportation service providers, including federally funded, volunteer and public transportation sources. The broker will contract with direct transportation service organizations to provide transportation using minibuses, wheelchair vans, and stretcher vans. The broker will be prohibited from direct delivery of NET transportation services. Reimbursement will be based on a per Medicaid recipient capitated rate set for each region by the bidding process. The initial contract will run from the date of issuance until June 30, 1996. The contract may be extended for up to three (3) more fiscal years (July 1 - June 30). Services under the RFP are expected to be operational by April 1996. If you called or submitted a written request to be put on the list to receive a copy of the previously proposed NET RFP, you do not have to submit another request. You will automatically receive a copy of this RFP when it is issued. The Georgia Department of Administrative Services (DOAS) is currently compiling a list of interested parties to receive a copy of this RFP when it is issued.
