Quotation (RFQ) for the following items -- Item 1: Qty 1 ea - Pioneer
500-Platter CD-ROM Jukebox or equal meeting the following
specifications: (1) 500-platter capacity, (2) Four quad speed (or
faster) ''read'' drives, ISO9660, High Sierra, Rock Ridge, Photo CD,
(3) SCSI-2 interface, (4) Transparent network access, (5) Transfer
rate: )600 KB/s sustained, or better, (6) 8-12 second disc change time,
or better, (7) Sun OS 4.1.3 and Solaris 2.4 compatibility, (8) Local
and Network File System (NFS) support -- Item 2: Qty 1 ea - Tracer
HyperROM file management software or equal for Item 1 per the following
specifications: (1) Shall support the CD-ROM jukebox device provided by
Item 1, (2) Sun OS 4.1.3 and Solaris 2.4 compatibility - Unix file
system compatibility at the system call level, (3) Local and NFS
support, (4) Ability to add platters to file system as more CDs are
received, (5) Automatic, transparent, on-demand platter changing on
jukebox, (6) Recovery tools for system administration, (7) Ability to
read platters within the jukebox, (8) File system from 1.5 to 2
Terabytes, or larger, able to transparently span CD disk surfaces,
magnetic disks, and multiple CD jukeboxes - File system shall be
transparent to users and be of form standard to Unix file systems -
Applications and software see a ''traditional'' Unix file system, (9)
CD to magnetic disk caching, prefetching, and scheduling algorithms,
(10) Shall be compatible at system call level with file management
software that drives an existing Magneto-optical jukebox (NKK 56 model
#RJ-5330E with internal RICOH drives model #RO-5030EII:JB -- Item 3:
Qty 1 ea -- Tracer Jukebox management software or equal for NKK 56
platter magneto-optical jukebox with internal RICOH drives - (1) Shall
support the following magneto-optical jukebox device: (a) NKK
56-cartridge unit jukebox, (b) two internal 5.25 inch RICOH Corporation
magneto-optical drives, (c) Disk library unit is model #RJ-5330E, (d)
Disk drive unit is model #RO-5030E II:JB, (e) SCSI interface, (f)
Erasable cartridge storage, (g) 1024 byte/sector (650 Mb), (2) Su OS
4.1.3 and Solaris 2.4 compatibility - Unix file system compatibilty at
the system call level, (3) Local and NFS support, (4) Ability to add
existing platters and files to file system, (5) Automatic, transparent,
on-demand platter changing on jukebox, (6) Recovery tools for system
administration, (7) Ability to read and write M/O platters within the
jukebox, (8) File system from 1.5 to 2 Terabytes, or larger, able to
span M/O disk surfaces, magnetic disks, and multiple jukeboxes - File
system shall be transparent to users and be of form standard to Unix
file systems - Applications and software see a ''traditional'' Unix
file system, (9) Optical to magnetic disk caching, prefetching, and
scheduling algorithms -- Item 4: Qty 1 ea - 1 year software maintenance
including telephone support and upgrades -- Delivery to MSFC (FOB
Destination) is required within 30 days -- This notice serves as the
only solicitation; quotes are being requested and a written
solicitation will not be issued -- This procurement is being conducted
under the Simplified Acquisition Threshold (SAT) portion of the
Federal Acquisition Streamlining Act (FASA) -- If other than the brand
name identified is quoted, then the quoter shall indicate the
manufacturer, brand, and model/part number quoted and provide a
description in sufficient detail to show that the product quoted meets
the brand name identified -- If the end product(s) quoted is other
than domestic end product(s) as defined in the clause entitled ''Buy
American Act -- Supplies,'' the quoter shall so state and shall list
the country of origin -- The quoter shall state in their quote their
size status for this procurement as well as whether they are minority
or woman-owned -- The SIC code and the size standard for this
procurement are 3572 and 1000, respectively -- The quoter shall
identify place of performance in their quote -- Questions regarding
this acquisition must be submitted in writing -- Transmission by
facsimile to 205-544-9081 or by Internet e-mail to
glynda.meeks@msfc.nasa.gov is acceptable -- Quotations (including
Representations and Certifications that may be obtained via the
internet at ''http://procure.msfc.nasa.gov/proc_ref.html'' or at
''ftp://procure.msfc.nasa.gov/reps_certs/sats/'') are due 20 days after
publication of this notice in the Commerce Business Daily (CBD) to the
address specified above to the attention of Glynda Meeks/GP24M --
Selecton and award will be made on an aggregate basis to the lowest
priced, technically acceptable quoter -- Technical acceptability will
be determined by information submitted by the quoter providing a
description in sufficient detail to show that the product quoted meets
the Government's requirement -- The period of time expected for the
Contracting Officer to solicit/evaluate vendor quotes and issue the
purchase order will be approximately 35 days from publication of this
notice in the CBD -- This procurement is a total small business
set-aside -- This solicitation and any related documents to this
procurement will be available over the Internet -- These documents will
be in ASCII format and reside on a World-Wide Web (WWW) server, which
may be accessed using client browsers, such as, MOSAIC -- The WWW
