Contracting Officer, (201) 724-3271. This action is initiated to obtain
one hydraulically powered, electronically controlled Artillery
Loader-Assist mechanism and spare parts to support the Advanced Towed
Cannon Artilllery System (ATCAS) engineering testbed program. The
loading mechanism shall incorporate a projectile tray that can seat
manually placed 155mm artillery projectiles in the cannon chamber, and
shall be sufficiently re-configurable and compact to allow use on a
towed howitzer. Similiarly, the loader must be compatible with the
limited electric and hydraulic output of the M198 Towed Howitzer
equipped with the Hydraulic Power-Assist Kit (HYPAK) pump and
battery-based power supply. The device should also include a ruggedized
electronic control unit and all necessary hardware required for weapon
integration. This contract is anticipated for Sole Source award to
Intertechnik G.m.b.H., Industriezeile 56, Postfach 100, A-4040 Linz,
Austria pursuant to FAR 6.302-1, Only One Responsible Source. Recent
evaluations of U.S. and foreign manufactured semiautomatic loaders have
demostrated that the Intertechnik Loader is the most suitable device to
