Science Foundation is soliciting proposals for helicopter services to
support United States Antarctic Program (USAP) and the New Zealand
Antarctic Program (NZAP) operations in Antarctica. The contractor shall
provide all labor, materials, and equipment necessary to operate and
maintain contractor supplied helicopter fleet. The contractor should
anticipate aircraft quantity and mix to provide approximately 1800
flight hours per season. Seasonal capability is variable and should
meet light to medium lift requirements (1350 hrs light and 450 medium
lift respectively). Nominal operational period will be October through
February, with occasional early season augment from 15-30 August.
Antarctic operations will be from USAP and NZAP bases and field camps.
Principal operations emcompass 150 miles of McMurdo Station,
Antarctica staging from Christchurch, New Zealand via LC-130/C-141/C-5B
aircraft, and/or surface lift. The solicitation is expected to be
released approximately 15 days following this synopsis' publication.
Proposals are due 20 December '95. A two year firm-fixed price contract
with three option periods of one year each is anticipated to be awarded
in mid-CY96 for the '96-'97 austral season. Only written requests for
the solictation will be honored. Telephone requests will not be
