The Marine Corps intends to procure Sole Source from Firearms Training Systems a Closed Loop Indirect Fire Trainer (CLIFT) to be added to the Indoor Simulated Marksmanship Trainer and Infantry Squad Trainer (ISMT/IST). The CLIFT will add a simulated mortar to the ISMT/IST Forward Observer (FO) training capability that will provide interactive, full mission training for supporting arms. This will be accomplished by allowing a mortar section to respond to an FO's call for fire by training in gunnery procedures on a simulation mortar. The Marine Corps intends to procure the following simulated mortars: thirty-six 60mm mortars with options for up to 80 more, seventeen 81mm mortars with options for up to 80 more, options for up to forty 120mm and 4.2 inch mortars, each. All simulated mortars must be fully interactive and interoperable with fielded ISMT/ISTs. They must accurately simulate the form, fit, function and firing capabilities of actual mortars. Using these simulated mortars, the system operator will be able to analyze the execution of all FO, fire direction center and mortar crew tasks from the instructor's control station PC. The system will allow for firing and producing appropriate results for more than one mortar firing simultaneously and in concert with the firing of other system weapons. The Marine Corps intends to procure the CLIFT with simulated mortars sole source from Firearms Training Systems, Inc., 7340 McGinnis Ferry Road, Suwanee, GA 30174, by adding line items to existing Contract M67854-94-C-2014 for the ISMT/ISTs.
