The system shall be a Robotic Liquid Handling System, computer controlled, with combined capability for both fixed and disposable tip operation. Shall consist of a base unit which includes four (4) Z drives. Shall be capable of using four (4) disposable tips on one sampling arm with each tip capable of independent vertical motion. Shall provide for the ability to develop variable spacing between sampling probes. Shall provide for liquid sensitive disposable tip use. Shall be capable of processing small sample volumes, less than 5ul, accurately. Shall include a large plate capacity of sixteen (16) microplates or greater. Shall include an Intel 486SX or equivalent based PC platform, or better, with the following minimum characteristics; (a) 100MB hard drive, (b) 4MB of RAM, (c) 3.5 inch, 1.44MB disk drive, (d) VGA color monitor, (e) Mouse and mouse driver, (f) MS-DOS 5.0, (g) Serial port, (h) Parallel port.
