The Unix server shall be able to handle 3 teaching Labs with 18 workstations each in operation at one time running 1 or more copies of various specified software packages. Each client machine will act as a stand alone Unix machine and receiving network services from the server and from a dedicated NFS device. One lab will consist of X terminals while the other two labs will consist of Unix workstations. The software packages to be run include THE CADENCE SUITE of applications, THE RATIONAL ADA COMPILER with the MOTIF GRAPHICAL USER INTERFACE, THE ALTA GROUP'S SUITE of applications, THE VIEWlogic WORKVIEW application, the entire GNU SOFTWARE SUITE, and the entire X11R6 software distribution. The server and workstations should be capable of running existing Solaris 1.1 and 2.X binaries of the specified software packages. The server should be able to administer 200 concurrent user login sessions. The server shall also handle the administrative protocols and applications: SENDMAIL, DNS, NIS, NFS, TCP/IP, HTTP, FTP, and NNTP, and Print Services.
