The Naval Sea Systems Command proposes to acquire approximately 10,800 manhours during FY96 and 7,200 manhours during FY97 of engineering support for the PHALANX Integrated Maintenance System (PIMS), associated with the MK-15 PHALANX Close-In Weapon System. This Phalanx Integrated Maintenance System (PIMS) support will include design engineering and product improvement tasks. A solicitation will be issued to Martin Marietta Defense Systems Division of Pittsfield, MA as they are the PIMS designer and have been the only source of this support. Martin Marietta possesses a stable engineering staff with the unique PIMS engineering experience necessary to successfully complete the necessary tasks. See Note 22. (0257)
