16 -- AN/AAR-51 NAVFLIR POC Contact, Betty Estey, Phone (703)604-1920 The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIRSYSCOM) intends to procure through sole source negotiations with GEC Marconi (GEC), Sensors Limited, Christopher Martin Road, Basildon, Essex SS14 3EL eight USMC, AN/AAR-51 NAVFLIR systems. This procurement will include those supplies, services and data necessary to support the manufacture and installation of these systems on the AV-8B Harrier II Plus Program. This contract will be awarded as specified by the terms of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) which directed the procurement to GEC. GEC is the sole developer and manufacturer of the NAVFLIR, and maintains exclusive proprietary data rights to the system. Accordingly, GEC is the only contractor capable of providing qualified NAVFLIRS required to meet the tri-national airframe delivery schedule. See note No. 22 - NAVAIR Synopsis No. 50136-95. (0244)
