The Navy Medical Research Institute/Toxicology Division (NMRI/TD), Wright-Patterson Air Force Base requires research support to explore the feasibility of applying PB-PK/PD modeling and sophisticated statistical analysis methods (such as response surface and isobolographic analysis) to study the toxicity of JP-5 as a prototypical complex mixture. The chemical engineering concept of lumping analysis shall be applied to model JP-5 as several classes of chemicals or boiling point ranges fractions within the fuel. The lumping analysis should identify three to four chemicals, each characteristic of one class or fraction, that will be modeled using PB-PK/PD methodology. The resulting model(s) shall be used to assess the feasibility of relating mixture dose to predicted effect using the aforementioned statistical analysis methods.
