Christian (816) 823-1004 The U.S. Department of Commerce/NOAA intends to solicit for the manufacture and purchase of 5 each; laminated fiberglass shelters for housing meteorological radio-direction finding equipment. These shelters will be purchased for the National Weather Service (NWS) for stock to be delivered to the National Logistics Supply Center, 1510 E. Bannister Rd., Kansas City, MO 64131. NSN: 5410-00-925-9347, ASN: P350. The NWS Drawings P350-DR001 through P350-DR042 consists of a sphere 14 ft., 8'' (4.47m) in diameter mounted on a truncated cone. The integral sphere and cone are comprised of 8 flanged panes or sections constructed in such a manner as to provide smooth exterior and interior surfaces and permit easy assembly at remotely located stations. The truncated cone has avertical height of 36'' +/- 3'' (0.91m +/- 76.2mm) with the center of the dome at an elevation of 75'' (1.905m) +/- 3'' (76.2mm) above thebase. Three of the sectors have vent hoods and doors, four of the sectors are plain and one sector contains the shelter door and''Penteave''. An outer hemispherical dome with a movable vent system controlled by two nylon cords. The shelter has been designed towithstand wind speeds of 100mph (160 KmH) and worldwide weather conditions common to field installations. After assembly, the interior diameter shall not vary by more than +/- (12.7mm). It is anticipated the RFQ will be issued within 15 days after publication of this notice.
