D -- SUBSCRIPTION TO METEOROLOGICAL DATABASE FOR PERIOD OF ONE YEAR SOL DACW38-95-T-0357 DUE 092895 POC Contract Specialist LAURIE BAGBY (601) 631-7901 (Site Code CW38) Market Survey - Requirement exists for electronic meteorological data which is readily available, timely and accurate. This data must reflect existing conditions and forecasts for the entire Corps of Engineers, Vicksburg District geographical area and surrounding areas including the Mississippi, Pearl, Ouachita, Black, Red and Atchafalaya Rivers. The type of data required includes, but is not limited to, NEXRAD Doppler radar images including precipitation areas and their intensities and movements, rainfall and wind history and forecasts, surface observations and forecasts such as temperatures and wind speed and direction, official watches and warnings, color satellite images, hurricane tracking and plotting including actual and predicted tracks, and real time lightning strike data. All of this information must be obtainable in a manner that will provide for very frequent updates in times of severe weather within the outlined areas. Data must be in a format which is easily usable by non-meteorologists. Data service must have no access time or volume restrictions and require no license agreement. The requirement is proposed to be filled under the authority of 40 USC 759(g), as amended, for sole source procurement with Accu-Weather, Inc. Firms that can provide the required service are encouraged to identify themselves to the Contracting Officer and provide supporting evidence which will permit their participation in the quotation.
