Center (NEIC) of the U.S. EPA requires the services of a contractor to
provide a portable X-Ray Fluorescence Spectrometer which can be
handcarried and operated by one person. The probe containing the
sources and the dector should have a laboratory stand and also be
capable of placement against the ground. The electronic unit must be
able to convert measured intensities into elemental concentrations, and
be able to store at least 25 spectra and 25 sets of sample results. In
addition to 110 volt AC operation, it must operate on self contained
batteries for at least two (2) hours. The detector must be capable of
operation at ambient temperatures, and must not require cooling with
liquid nitrogen. The resolution of the detector must be 300 eV or
better when measured at the manganese K-alpha line. The instrument
software must include fundamental parameters calibration procedures as
well as provisions for empirical calibration. Results and spectra must
be transferable to a PC. A Firm Fixed Price contract is contemplated
with an effective date of 10/1/95. All interested offerors shall submit
