Washington, D.C. 20591 17 -- AIRCRAFT LAUNCHING, LANDING, AND GROUND HANDLING EQUIPMENT The
Federal Aviation Administation is seeking sources for a
commercial-off-the-shelf low power distance measuring equipment (DME)
system. The system should consist of the following functional elements:
single DME transponder, dual DME monitor and all required operational
and maintenance software. The DME system must be FAR Part 171 certified
or capable of being certified and meet or exceed a system MTBF of 2190
hours. The system must meet the following additional requirements: Low
power (100 watt), solid state, modular construction; capable of direct
interface to a co-located instrument landing system for receiving
indent trigger (slave mode); existing remote maintenance monitoring
capability; output circuit protection; primary power from a nominal
120/240V, 60 Hz three wire single phase AC source; automatic gain
reduction; battery backup; and an omnidirectional antenna. Training
courses and commercial operations manual and technical instruction
books must be available. Firms having applicable DME systems should
submit particulars to the Contract Specialist, Cynthia Valdes, ASU-310,
at the above address. Submissions should contain commercial literature
that demonstrates capability to meet stated requirements, sample of
commercial instruction book and training course syllabus, statement of
FAR Part 171 certification status, description of methodology used to
measure claimed system MTBF, and description of commercial warranties.
Submissions should be made within 15 days after publication of this
announcement. This announcement is for information purposes only and
does not constitute an IFB or RFP and shall not be construed as a
commitment by the Government to procure such equipment. A solicitation
