Graf, Contracting Officer, 202/606-3513. The Peace Corps is seeking a
qualified individual (not organizations or companies) to serve as
Training Director in Nicaragua. The contract position is for one-year
beginning on or about September 4, 1995. The contract will have a one
year option for possible extension. The training director is
responsible for Pre-Service and In-Service Training, including
recruiting, training and coordinating other training staff; managing
all training functions and logistical considerations; evaluating
trainee suitability for service and holding evaluation sessions with
Trainees and staff; coordinating logistics for family live-in and field
visits; submitting acquisition requests and payments, and evaluating
and reporting progress of the training program. The training director
will have primary responsibility for the ongoing implementation of the
pilot FIT model of pre-service training. Experience should include:
(1) Previous experience in directing/managing a Peace Corps Omnibus
model pre-service training cycle is desired but not mandatory. (2)
Experience in developing curriculum and training with emphasis on
participative and experiential learning; (3) Interpersonal skills with
demonstrated experience in staff development and training of trainers
as well as communication with trainees concerning meeting selection
criteria; (4) Maturity with demonstrated ability to work effectively
and sensitively on an inter-cultural team of trainers, staff and Peace
Corps Trainees and Volunteers; (5) Knowledge of development issues in
Latin America; (6) Experience as a volunteer overseas or other
relevant overseas living experience; (7) Knowledge of Nicaragua and the
Peace Corps Programming and Training System is desired but not
mandatory. The successful candidate will require a security clearance
and must be fully proficient in Spanish. Interested individuals should
