The NAVSTAR Global Positioning System (GPS) Joint Program Office (JPO) is seeking 719 commercially produced hand-held GPS receivers for Air Combat Command (ACC). The Government is particularly interested in a single- handheld operated commercial receiver with maximum dimensions of 3.3''W x 6.8''H x 1.3''D and a maximum weight of 14oz. The receiver shall have a backlit LCD display and a minimum capability of tracking 8 GPS satellites simultaneously. The receiver shall also have an internal antenna and be powered by alkaline or lithium batteries. The receiver shall also show measurement in statute, nautical, and metric units. The receiver must be capable of withstanding aircraft cockpit decompression at 50,000 feet. Note - The unit does not have to operate at 50,000 feet during/after cockpit decompression but must still function upon return to ground level.
