The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division, Dahlgren, Virginia plans to issue a draft solicitation for a four-year development and production effort to support the Switching/Data Transfer requirements at multiple AEGIS facilities. Performance of this effort will require experience in some or all of the following areas: NTDS interfaces, system integration, switching, networking, data transfer, fiber optic interfaces, and software integration. This effort may require teaming amongst vendors with specific specialities. The System specification emphasizes a distributed architecture with: Commercial Off-The-Shelf equipment, modularity, expandability, signal integrity, high throughput, low latencies, high reliability, high maintainability, software compatibility, and diagnostic testing. The estimated date for release of the draft solicitation is 15 September 1995. The purpose of the draft solicitation is to provide the specifications, requirements, and contract strategy to interested sources, and to address comments, recommendations, and/or questions from industry prior to release of a formal request for proposals. A pre-solicitation conference will be held approximately two weeks after release of the draft solicitation. All details on the pre-solicitation conference will be provided with the draft solicitation. The draft solicitation will be provided on computer disk in Wordperfect 6.1 or via E-Mail.
