A -- A -- ALFS SYSTEM CAPABILITY ENHANCEMENT CAPABILITY POC Contact, Kathryn Volpe, Phone (703)604-2000 The Naval Air Systems Command intends to issue a sole source modification to existing contract N00019-92-C-0001 with Hughes Aircraft Company, Fullerton, California, to develop an information processing capability to provide automatic classification aids, to develop an in situ environmental adaptation capability, to demonstrate an ability to adjust ALFS length of sonar cable to that required by the depth of the littoral operating area, and to integrate these efforts and other related on going efforts into the ALFS system to enhance overall ALFS system performance. Effort includes associated engineering support, associated hardware/software products and related documentation. Hughes is the sole manufacturer and designer of the ALFS system and the only one with the requisitie knowledge, experience and data base to perform this effort within the time and funding constraints.
