Travis, (317)351-4632, Additional Contact, Facsimile No., (317)353-3066 The Naval Air Warfare Center, Aircraft Division intends to award a contract to Lockheed Martin, Marietta, Georgia to perform a study to investigate the configurations available for the ES-3A, AN/ASN-92 Carrier Aircraft Inertial Navigations System (CAINS I) replacement. The efforts required to complete this task include a comparison of alternatives of the ES-3A Control Display Unit (CDU) to the Control Display Navigation Unit (CDNU) in terms benefit to integration, investigation of back-up bus controller options, investigate the feasibility of removing the Omega Navigation System, compare the alternatives of a CAINS II system and the embedded GPS Inertial system, investigate the feasibility of replacing the AHRS with CAINS II, ensure that there is an ARN-118 TACAN interface or recommend a replacement, compare alternatives to the ARN-151 GPS Receiver, outline top level software development reaquirements and then conduct a study results presentation. These tasks are in support of the ES-3A aircraft, ARIES II program. All deliverables will be forwarded to the Naval Air Warfare Center, 6000 E. 21st Street, Indianapolis, IN 46219-2189.
