The Sensor Systems Division of the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) has a requirement for a Dynamic Template System. This system shall provide a controllable template that modulates various electro-optical sources and provides variable optical target sizes to the sensor under test. DCS Corporation is the sole manufacturer of the Dynamic Template System with IRDTS-1.0-SCR Dynamic Template Source and Interface Unit; IEEE-1.0-IF IEEE-488 Computer Interface and IFKIT-1.0-EOI Mounting Hardware Installation. This system provides a thermal source with a controller, interface software, and a dynamic iris closing target simulator. Technical requirements call for a temperature control between +5 deg C and +100 deg C, and point source iris capability of 12mm to 50mm openings. Control software shall be capable of varying the iris size and thermal source rate of change to simulate IR target characteristics. IR target charateristics shall be applicable for testing IR Search and Track (IRST) and Forward Looking IR (FLIR) systems. The system shall be capable of being integrated with an existing NAWCAD 486 computer to provide computer control of the blackbody source and iris. Knowledge on specific integration requirements associated with the NAWCAD EOI Model HR630 collimator system is required. This system is an off-axis reflecting parabolic mirror which projects the iris controlled thermal target to the sensor under test. In accordance with FAR 6.302-1 only one responsible source and no other Supplies or Services will satisfy agency requirements, this requirement will be negotiatied on a sole source basis with DCS Corporation.
