The purpose of this announcement is to develop a list of sources for a future production contract for the FDECU. The unit will be ''build to print'' based on drawings currently being developed by Arthur D. Little in Cambridge, MA. The FDECU is an electric motor driven, vapor cycle, skid mounted, 5-ton air conditioner at a maximum ambient temperature of 125 degrees F and a heating capacity of 48,000 BTU/HR. The FDECU will use R-134a refrigerant and must be Nuclear, Biological and Chemical (NBC) defense capable. The air conditioner will be designed to provide cooling and heating for aircraft electronic maintenance shops, transportable field hospitals and portable buildings. A Best Estimated Quantity (BEQ) of 12,000 units will be procured. The government reserves the right to consider a small business set-aside for this procurement.
