Y -- U S POSTAL SERVICE IS ISSUING REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS TO PREQUALIFIED CONTRACTORS FOR DESIGN/BUILD OF THE CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA P&DF. SOL 415046-95-A-0580. DUE 082995. The Postal Service is issuing Request for Proposals for design/build of the dock expansion of the Processing and Distribution Facility, 1155 Seminole Trail, Charlottesville, VA 22906-9998. It is intended to award a fixed-price contract for completion of design documents and modifications to the existing dock, plus construction of a 3600 gsf dock expansion containing a relocated BMAU operation with dock access. The existing six position dock would be lowered from 24'' to 50'', be fully enclosed, be fully automated with electro hydraulic levelers, bumpers, seals, leveler/door interlocks, control lights, bollards, per USPS Design Guidelines and Details. HVAC, fire and sprinkler systems and controls for the enclosure and expansion will be integrated into the existing building with supplemental HVAC provided, as required. The enclosure and expansion will comply with all national, federal, state and local building, fire and safety, and handicap accessibility codes and requirements. Additional electrical panels for lighting, HVAC, dock levelers, etc. will be provided and fed from an existing spare transformer. Construction is anticipated to be completed within 90 calendar days from Notice to Proceed after award. The construction cost is valued between $475,000.00 and $500,000.00. Inc., Maryland Trade Center, Ste 1600, 7500 Greenway Center Drive, Greenbelt, MD 20770; J A Jones Construction, J A Jones Drive, Charlotte, NC 28287; and Turner Construction Company, 4601 N. Fairfax Ave., Ste. 900, Arlington, VA 22203. Plans and specifications will be provided to the prequalified firms only. Subcontractors must contact the firms listed. Offers will not be publicly opened. The Postal Service reserves the right to reject any or all offers. Until award of the contract, the number of proposals received, the identity of the offerors, the amount of any offer or the relative standing of offers will not be disclosed.
