576-8217. Representatives from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE),
Lockheed Martin Energy Systems (LMES), MK-Ferguson of Oak Ridge Company
(MK-Ferguson), Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) and other regional
businesses will participate in a day-long conference on August 31,
1995, to provide information on new contracting opportunities for
attending companies. This year's conference title is ``Building
Partnerships in a Diverse and Changing Market.'' The conference is
sponsored by the Oak Ridge Chamber of Commerce in cooperation with the
East Tennessee Minority Purchasing Council, LMES, MK-Ferguson, and the
TVA. The morning sesions will focus on upcoming contracting
opportunities with the DOE, TVA, MK-Ferguson, and LMES. Representatives
from many other national and regional companies will also be available
for one-on-one sessions, with exhibits, during the afternoon. This
year the Conference has structured the afternoon seminars into three
tracks in order to tailor the presentations to meet the needs of a
diverse range of companies. The first track is designed to provide
assistance to start-up companies and those companies which have been in
business for only a short time. The second tract is intended to provide
advice to companies that are looking for management tools to use to
expand and develop business skills. The third tract provides assistance
and information to more experienced companies on how to grow and adapt
to the changing federal market. In addition, concurrent small business
workshops during the afternoon will focus on effective marketing, how
to write a successful proposal, financing, government contracting, and
completing an 8(a) application. The Conference will be held at the
Pollard Auditorium and the Oak Ridge Civic Center. To register for the
