Postal Service is soliciting proposals for the replacement of the HVAC system at the Eureka, California Main Post Office, a leased building. The facility will remain in operation during construction; some of the work must be done outside normal business hours. The estimated range is $110,000-$180,000. A pre-proposal conference will be held on July 31, 1995 at 1:00 P.M. at the Eureka Main Office which is located at 337 West Clark Street, Eureka, California. There is a $20.00 non-refundable charge for the solicitation. Requests must be in writing and specify the solicitation number. Checks must be made payable to ''USPS Disbursing Officer'' and be mailed to the above address. Telephone and fax requests will not be honored. Determination of responsibility will be based on the following factors: 1. Minimum of 5 years recent experience in construction and satisfactory completion of 5 projects of comparable size, scope and cost; 2. Firm's capacity to accomplish the work in the required time; 3. Positive references from past clients; 4. Past performance - projects completed on time and on budget; 5. Submittal of a copy of the contractor's license as a heating, ventilating and air conditioning contractor, or other suitable evidence of the contractor's licensing as an HVAC contractor in the State of California. Contractor must be able to perform on the site, with its own organization, work equivalent to at least 12% of the total amount of work to be performed under the contract. Performance and payment bonds must be received within ten days after issuance of intent-to-award letter. The Postal Service does not accept individual sureties. Sealed offers are due by 3:00 P.M. on the date shown above. Offers will not be publicly opened and all proposal information will remain confidential until contract award.
