The Smithsonian Institution is seeking a qualified general construction and exhibit fabrication contractor with experience in producing exhibitions of like scale (20,000 square feet) with like elements (fine architectural millwork, special exhibit elements such as globes, models, demonstrations of phenomena, and etc.) for producing the Janet Annenberg Hooker Hall of Geology, Gems, and Minerals to be located at the National Museum of Natural History (NMNH), Washington, D.C. The purpose of this invitation is to solicit offers from qualified organizations to provide general construction, exhibit fabrication and on-site installation services. This work includes, but is not limited to; mechanical (HVAC), electrical systems, sprinklers-fire protection, security systems, painting, floor covering, drywall partitions, soffits, architectural mill work, skylight ceiling, balcony structural work, exhibit platforms, case work, glass and glazing, graphic production, architectural lighting, case lighting, general lighting, models, special effects and props, rock simulation, supervision and installation.
