H -- COMPUTER AIDED ENGINEERING/COMPUTER AIDED DESIGN SYSTEM OPERATION AND DESIGN ENGINEERING SUPPORT SOL N00167- POC POC Douglas Smith 301-227-1640; C.O. Faith Ferris 301-227-3602. The Carderock Division, Naval Surface Warfare Center intends to issue a sole source modification under existing contract N00167-91-D-0042 with Vector Research Co. to increase the overall ceiling and extend the period of performance by 12 months. This contract provides the Center with CAE/CAD System Operation and Design Engineering Support. This sole source modification is necessary to bridge a gap between the current expiration date of the existing contract and the issuance of a new competitive replacement contract which is currently in process. It is essential to the mission of this organization that CED/CAD coverage be maintained during this contract transition period to insure that urgently needed support is continuously available for high priority projects. The only way to insure that coverage is available is to modify the existing contract with Vector Research Co. It would not be possible and time would not permit the issuance of a new separate contract to bridge the gap between the current expriation date of the existing contract and the issuance of the new competitive replacement contract.
